Thanks - i thought it might be a Glyptoperichthys Joselimaianus.
However i have no idea - it came in a tank i bought.
Do you know it its worth anything or is it a common one?
Thanks. |

Not worth very much, fairly common fish. Just a word of warning they do get very big, I temporarily rehomed one for my uncle that was near 2ft! |

fairly common but beter than the standed plec i think??? £20-25 for 10-12inch |

But if i was you i would rip that internal filter out of that tank there a waste of space. |

Its too big really already.
I think im going to try to rehome it and get something smaller.
Can anyone recommend a plec to keep the algae down - i really would like a L46 but they are a little expensive. |

LOL - get rid of the filter - its a Juwel Rio 300 - i have made the modifications to the filter as per the forums you come across - ie adding bio balls or what ever they are called - i also have a Fluval 305 and a UV.
The filter is big though - but it hides the heater and the pipes for the external filter as they come into that unit. |

What size tank have you got. |
07-05-2007 22:41 by paul stevens
|
Yeah but they take up so much room in the tank. |

A rio 300 - its a little smaller than a 4ft x 2ft x 2ft.
The biggest i can fit in my house. |

Bristlenose plecs don't get too big and do a good job at algae control, otocinclus are good too and definately won't get to big!
As for R Tate saying £20-25 I'd say alot cheaper, maybe about £5 |

mwilde you are right It is a Glyptoperichthys Joselimaianus also known as L001/L022 or big spot pleco. - Not as big a Gibbi. Grows to about 10". |

I found this article that compare them both to each other.

You're all wrong. It's a Snow King pleco. I've got one about 2 feet long at the moment. Still expect it to grow. |

It is really easy to tell these apart - Sailfins have dark round spots forming the pattern, instead of irregular white blotches that josemailanus have.
Definately not a snow king Pterygoplichthys ambrosettii as the shape is wrong - Snow kings are more elongate and have a quite different pattern - sort of laid on top of the back forming a regular pattern.

it looks like a L001 to me to, the Bensch recons it gets to 6ins, ive been getting fish back that measure a good 10in. The markings on the Lepoard plecs (as we call themthat we sell) often are more rounded with some having quite brightly sliver blogges (if this isnt a true word, let me be the first to call it my word)on them |

It is a L001/L022 Pterygoplichthys joselimaianus, supposed to grow to 12". |
