They are very common in estuaries where the salinity isnt full strength.
I used to tow a net behind a canoe, but you can cast out some sort of fabricated net from a fishing rod, then reel in the net. |

I would not risk it as ther is arisk of introducing disease - stick to frozen, this will supply all they need. |

The rising tide is always a good bet for pretty much all marine life. Infowing blooms of phyto and zooplankton brings in the higher life forms up the food chain.
Get to know the rise and fall of the tide in your area, best seek advice from local fisherman or coastguard if you are venturing out on to the mud/water. Proper clothing, footwear and means of communication (mobile phone)should be at the top of your list.
Safety first!
Paddy D - good point about the disease. I should have mentioned that once you have collected a breeding population of Mysis then you can culture them up artificially. It will take several months, possibly a year to attain a pure culture though. There is always a risk of introducing disease when sampling live food from the wild. |

Better to feed Live Brine Shrimp at adult size.
Nutritionally better, easier to obtain, DISEASE FREE, grown in the UK (Bradford)& usually available from all good LFS.
Drop me a PM with Brine shrimp in subject line & let me know your postal addy/town.

Have to agree with Graham Penney, cultured food is always better than wild.
The upside with culturing mysis against Br.S. is they dont need warm water to grow. |
