16-05-2007 12:15 by daveyd_101	i have a fairly new tank set up been running about two months with mostly base rock with coraline on some... (already been in another tank) i've noticed a coraline algae growing that i've never seen before in any of my other tanks... it's bright almost aluminous green.. any idears
16-05-2007 13:56 by Alan	I have had some of this the pink will quickly out compete with it and smother it. Alternatively it is possible you have the early stages of some sponge growth only time will tell. If the form is the same as the pink coralline algae though you have just got a different colour. I have multiple colours of coraline algae in my tank but they are now just various pinks to deep red. All the green was smothered.

16-05-2007 18:32 by trik	Dont allow the coraline to smoother your live rock to much as it reduces the rocks filtering purpose and slowley kills it off, a good selection of hermits or even a urchin will keep it cleanish for you , HTH Richard
17-05-2007 10:27 by Alan	The only thing I know that will effectively munch coralline algae is an urchin make sure all corals and rocks is securely attached urchins are like bull dozers and watch the spins they hurt.
