Basically T8's are the old inch diameter tubes that have been around for ages - T5 Tubes are much more recent in the hobby and are thinner and have a higher output in wattage.
1 T8 Tube is roughly equivilent to 1.5 T5 tubes
Here is a comparison:
T5
22" 24 w
34" 39 w
46" 54 w
60" 80 w
T8
15" 15 w
18" 15 w
24" 20 w
30" 25 w
36" 30 w
42" 40 w
48" 40 w

So if i wanted to increase my watts per gallon and quick easier way would be to go to T5 tubes?

I take it a need a new light unit then - can you get convertors or anything? |

You can get Arcadia I bars - this will replace the juwel T8 starter unit. This would be the easiest way.
Or you can buy the individual starter units - but you may need to change your hood somehow. |

Thank you all.
The Arcadia I bar seems perfect but i might look into these convertors first as it would be a cheaper option - just not too sure about the waterproofness (is that a word:-)) |
