Hiya ~~
Does anyone know of a good remover of this stuff??
We got overrun by it when we <cough> took out all the floating plants and the stuff went of like a bomb. Can hardly see anything for it. Mind you in some places it looks good LOL
Anyhoo, trying Interpet Anti Hair Algae and although we have just had the 3rd dose added (1 a week) nothing much seems to be happening
Anyone tried owt else that's any good?
Thanks

if its a trop tank then taking out all your other plants made it happen, because there is no other plant fighting for the nitrates and phosphates thats in the water or from your tap water changes. Have you tested the water. |

It was only the floaters that we got rid of.
Have since just discovered that it's in fact Black Brush Algae
Looks like a full strip down after the hols.
Cheers anyhoo

I have looked for them, and to be honest they seem difficult to get hold of. However, I have found that the Siamese Algae Eaters are the top of the list when it comes to Black Bush Algae. Soooo, of to search for a supplier of these now.
Apparantly just gotta make sure that we don't get the Chinese Algae Eater instead coz they appear to be less than useless and get very big.

Angi <~~~ Gonna make notes on the difference so she doesn't get blitzed LOL |

I have recently had the same problem in my discus display tank. It got to a point where all I could see was the black hair algae, it was smoothing everything. I have been restricting the amount of light my tank get, with a 3 hour break around mid day. I also let my floating plants (frog bit) cover the surface rather than thinning it. I have almost got rid of it, just a little on my background bt should now rub off. I also reduced my usage of CO2. |

they will only eat a certain amount of it, i have ottos, shrimps, sae, snails, they all nibble away at it and still it grows, ive got plants, and moss balls, and restricted lighting, cutting out the light works best, and sae only eat algae when young. di |
