09-06-2007 16:41 by netty d	Right guys, i need to know the easiest and cheapest way to higher my PH level (preferably without chemicals). Someone said oyster shells work ?....anyone know if that's a fact ? and how much to add ?. Soz for all the questions, but i have some malawis coming next week and need to get the PH up. I have got some PH up on stadby just incase.....lol.

09-06-2007 17:29 by graham penney	Add Bicarbonate of Soda @ half gm -1gm/lt. Add areation for 24hrs then re test the pH (Bicarb takes 24hrs to totally disolve into solution).

And all i want to do is change my PH for malawis as i have researched and know they need a higher PH than my tap water. So really you are saying no-one should keep marines as our tap water doesn't contain salt ? not bad typing for a drunk eh ?
09-06-2007 20:57 by Jim Son	now now, i didnt mention marine, no ones tap water contains salt, and i didnt mean ONLY keep fish that your tap water suits, i just raised it as a general bit of advice, if you live in a soft or neutral pH area there is wealth of fish to choose from thats all i am saying, if you want to keep Malawi's then fine, but dont use pH up stuff, its a short term fix, not that you said you were gonna use it, as soon as you put the stuff in the pH will got back down again in a few days, you need to also check the hardness of your tap water to determine the buffering capacity
