can any one help me with this problem, i have no phosphate or nitrate, i use co2, and t5 lights, have had to cut down on my lights to try and slow the algea down my tank has mother crypts wich are gettin coveredwill putiiin floating plants help , and is there anythink that will get rid of the alges

you must have some nitrate, nitrite and ammonia are converted into nitrates and used by plants.

barbs love to eat it apparently, also plants like vallisarnia will help.

True siamese algae eaters Crossocheilus siamensis wil eat black algae. But I think your test kits are not giving acurate results, I would expect you to have some nitrate reading and definately some phosphate. I would definately re-test with new kits.
