Hi guys, recently bought 3 butterfly fish for new tank. one is quite large and the other two are smaller. I was having trouble getting the smaller ones to feed as the large one will take dry flakes. so with alot of perserverence i have managed to get them to take frozen bloodworm from my hand. which is all well and good if it wasn't for the greed of their other tank mates. i put in flake then tablets then a bloodworm for them, but i'm finding they're still harrassing the butterflies every time i put the cube in. i've tried feeding at night too but they still don't get much. Is there any other way i haven't thought of? all ideas gratefully appreciated!! |

yes, just drop em onto surface, when they start to swim about + make ripples the butterflys will pounce, but make sure they're the right size to be munched[not too big!]crickets are better than mealworms as they take longer to drown |

Butterflys are a fish best suited to a very quiet tank just for the reason you have found.
Floating live foods will be taken greadily as will bloodworm you could try feeding krill as well as this is quite a meaty food and those smaller fish that would normally go for bloodworm may not be able to consume the krill. |

I give mine everything from woodlice to spiders to moths, also give him flake they will eat it if you blow it across the water |
