Do you still have the hard drive or have you formatted and and reinstalled software?
Even if the hard drive has been formatted you would be able to recover it. Formatting basically just marks the sectors on the disk as rewritable. Once you rewrite data back onto it, then the data that was on that section is over written and un recoverable.
3rd party application can easily recover the data - its only gets hard once the hard drive is physically broken or once you have put stuff back on it.
I work for a registered social landloard, and when we get rid of our PCs/server we have to perform a procedure called DOD wiping (Department of Defence) - this ensures that the data is completly unreceoverable.
If you are are intrested in me trying to help you email me and i can send you details - or even send the CD - its all freeware tools. Its just knowing how to use them. Its always worth a chance if its something important you have lost. |
