hi all,my first pair of angels i have a problem with are a new pair, the tubes have come down the female as swollen, but the females tube as come down and it looks twice the size of a normal ovipositer, they have cleaned the breeding cone up and are going through the normal routine but no eggs are being laid, the second pair is that after 4 or 5 time of them laying eggs and then eating the young i had decided to take the eggs of them when they hatch, the problem is that now the eggs dont hatch,i have to use a water softener in a filter for 48 hours before putting the fish in,i was wondering if the water had only been temperary sofend any one got any ideas thank every one

Use an airstone under the eggs you removed, thie should have the same effect as the parents fanning the eggs. Also add some methylene blue, which will shoud avoid fungus.

As for the other pair I have no idea, just give them time hopefully they'll spawn.

Just to let you know, any hassle you have is totally worth it. I've now got a female looking after a slate covered in wrigglers. Brilliant to watch

A few mistakes in there, but you get the idea.

If they are rearing them to wrigglers, i would personally let them.....then remove the parents, once they are wrigglers, the parents technically aren't required, as they don't feed off them, they feed off the yolk sac. But you need to keep an eye on them, as when the first one is free swimming, you need to get some food in the tank. Best if it's newly hatched brine shrimp.

Angels can some times take about 4-5 times to get it right, If they carry on eating the eggs then try using an egg guard , once they become free swimming their maternal instincts will take over, Dont worry about the size of the egg tube as these can be different sizes in females,
