hi does anyway know how to sex these fiah as i have got 2 which i bought on a trip to a fish shop and one is blue and they seem to be going through the motions of spawning digging out if anyone has some info please let me know thanks ill put up a pic hold on |

They are commonly though of as not sexable except by venting. I suppose body shape and size might be used as a guide, but is probably not reliable. |

Although finnage is normally used for several cichlids I have never heard of it being used for uaru. Nor have I heard or seen any colour variation. But it is often a sign of a female in general (rounded fins) especially if combined with a more rounded body when settled down.
They are lovely fish. |

I used to have Uaru, and I only knew the sex of them when they spawned, other than that I was unable to see any physical differences. |

i know an uaru breeder and he has to buy 10 at a time and hope for a pair or two. he cant sex them either.
