Posted brown algae growning like wild fire

can anyone tell me how to get rid of this brown algae as i have tried all sorts of things and i cannot shift it i do reg water change just renewed bulbs thinking that may be that the problem haded new phoshate tested all seems to be fine any answer will be glad to now thanks

right, have you tested for nitrate as this is a big cause of algae, also how long has your tank been set up? if its new then tanks often have this bloom in its early stages.

thanks bluboy tank as been set for one year now it was all going ok until i went on my hols come back to this i have tried my nitrate and does seem to be ok

i nhave just checked it again and it is on 50 getting a dark reddy colour my tank is 2x2x7 how do i get this nitrate down

what sorta fish ya got in tank,how often/much do ya feed,how regular are ya water changes,do ya syphon gravel/sand?all these can affect nitrates,also do you use ceramic tubes in ya filter as these can be nitrate factories if not rinsed out on a regular basis, any chance theres decaying food/plants trapped anywhere

lip stick tang powder blue yellowtang regal tang one trigger 8 green chromis 3 star fish 30 turbo snails water change every other week feed once a day marine flake protein skimmer 1000 syphon the sand when cleaning this brown algae is like little brown leaves and every time i remove it, its back again and i have also done some sand change still got nowhere sump with algae tank and that is is doing well
