Hi scotty , what are your tank prams, ie , tests , flow and how long has it been running with what stock and what size of tank.

silicates tend to feed red algae which I pressume are diatoms which are actually a bacterial film not algae at all.
Remove them as frequently as you can by hand and eventually they should pass of its own accord, I had a massive out break a while back after rearranging my tank this was caused by the inadvertent destruction of sponge colonies when I re-aquascaped and sponges utilise silicates so when destroyed will slowly release them.
The other thing to consider is increasing the water turnover rate.
Many phosphate removers will remove silicates but only once the phosphate has been adsorbed I believe but don't quote me on that I am not certain.
Full tank parameters would be useful as Trik has already requested as it is possible there may be an underlying problem. |

What the water turnover rate inside the tank not including the sump return pump. |

sounds like 8500lph with a 6080, not enough turn over in the tank , plus you are highly stocked, as the tangs are messy buggers, and most of them will grow to big for your tank stocked at that level, how big are the Tangs at the mo? |

Also Amonia should be "0", that means you will have a nitrite (NO2) reading, and poss a higher nitrate (NO3) reading , what test kit are you using and how old are they? including the phosphate (PO4) kit. |
