I seem to have oxygen problems at the moment in my tank, can anyone tell me the best sourse of oxygen for tropical fish. I have seen the tetratec range seem quite good. |

Like any tank , marine , trop , cold water, good water circ at the top, (water air exchange) a good power head directed at rhe surface . |

on this subject, ive got a question....does the filter "drop off" need to be above water level for more oxygen to get curculated around the tank or can the water coming from the filter run along the surface of water and still diffuse oxygen into the tank....hope you can understand all that gobbledeegue |

Anything that breaks the water surface creates Oxygen, powerheads or spraybars are best, forget the pump and airstones, they actually don't create that much oxygen at all,HTH |

Ideally you would want the return from any canister filter to enter the tank above the water line causing maximum surface agitation as the water returned from a canister is normally oxygen depleted.
I would suggest you look at agitating the surface iof the tank in some way by agitating the surface of the water you can actually double to surface area improving gas exchange greatly.
Failing that get an air pump with an airstone it has the same effect of driving off CO2 and improving gas exchange. |
