Does anyone use either of these and are they any good ? Would I be better using a single large one or 2 of the smaller ones ? Can you over Zap a tank ? I was advised by my LFS not to go up to the full tank flow.

I have a 650 Litre Tropical tank.

Sorry, I don't know how to put a link in. Just copy and paste into the search box and it will find them.

Cheers, Keith

The large one is rated up to 100 gallons which is 454 litres so you would need 2 if you were to follow the guidelines to the letter.

I will be purchasing one of the larger models myself in the very near future as I am currently dealing with a very nasty velvet outbreak that is proving very resiliant to treatment.

It was imported with some african red eye tetras.

I don't think you can over zap a tank to be honest not sure what the shop is on about really you wont be sterilising the tanks filters just the water so you will not be harming the bacterial colonies you want to keep equally the bacteria on all the decor will not be harmed either as it is not exposed to the UV light it is only the water that goes through the steriliser that would be sterilised. There is another benifit to UV sterilisers in that they create a small amount of ozone which will also help to oxidise some waste in the tank this is what enables it to create clear water with time.

Its a different story with marine tank by the way as UV sterilisers can be harmful to the micro fauna of a tank.
