I bought a metal halide off wayne on sunday ,you know a real dodgy fella anyway the live rock has started to turn brown and a small like bubble fillament attaches itself to the rock ,is it because of a high nitrate level, the lights are too close its driving me up the wall as i have had it before everything is fine in the tank and i have a sump permantly lit with good algea growth? |

Whats the kelvin rating of the bulb and hopw old was the one it replaced?
What is your nitrate level?
It could be down to insufficient water turbulence. |

The bulb is new and 20.000 kelvin, the halide is 4 inches above the water. |

sounds like a CYCLE lol,
the algae will build up and then die down when the clean up crew gets to it you have addded live rock and created a new mini cylce wich your tank went through origanally |
