Keep away from all fin nippers, neon's and some tetra's are good (and colourful), platy's swords etc. You need to have some plants if you want to raise your fry, or the guppies etc will find and eat them. Have you thought about a tank with endlers in? They are very colourful, prolific, dont eat their fry and are quite healthy/hardy (unlike most shop bought guppies) |

Guppies and Endlers will interbreed, try to just keep one (although you get great colours when they do) |

Angels and enders won't work out, endlers are too small and will just get eaten.
Guppies would be fine with angels, as long as they aren't too large. However, angels can be very different in behaviour and some may eat them even if the guppies appear big enough.
As has already been said don't keep guppies and endlers together as they will hybridise which isn't good for the hobby. Endlers are very rare in the wild now and it's a shame to waste the chance of breeding pure strain endlers to preserve quality bloodlines in the hobby.
Another thing if you go for guppies - where will you buy them? Shop bought are often from the far east and are more than likely going to drop dead within a few days of you getting them. So that leaves you with homebred fish, which should be a lot healthier. But (generally) they aren't as bright or flamboyant, however if you get a specific strain of guppy from a specialised breeder you can get some very nice fish, they can be costly though.
Hope that helps. |
