Pea Puffers |

I have a snail problem in my community tank. Chemicals have failed so it was suggested that i get pea puffers. I have just bought 3 very small ones and was told they "may get nippy as they get bigger". Any clues as to the extent of the likely 'nippiness' would be helpful. |

Sounds like they're very nippy! |

Thank you, I've had a look and I'm hoping I haven't made a grave mistake here! I think I may be looking to re-home them once they have eaten all the snails! |

Always research fish before buying them, otherwise you'll end up having to rehome fish through no fault of their own. |

Another option may be to sell on your snails? |

hi andrea they probably wont eat the snails as they will have your fish to chase and nip,and there food eat aswell, just take them back to swallows you were badly advised on this purchase if you have a community tank.i find swallows good for fish but a bit iffy on advice |

The snail traps are quite good, or dropping a piece of Sweet potato in your tsnk before you go to bed and then removing it and the snails on it works. But you normally never get rid as there will be eggs in your tank while you are removing the ones you catch |

Thanks all. I appreciate what you say Rob but as a novice the 'research' usually is to speak to someone experienced before choosing a fish and then learning about that species. There are far too many to research them all before making the selection. OK, I admit I should have tried the forum first! Anyway, so far the snails have virtually all gone and no fish have been nipped so I am going back to speak to Swallow Aquatics again before it is too late. |
