Has anyone got any parrot cichlids? Mine are doing fine, that was until my male developed a large lump right in the centre of his fsce/nose whatever you want to call it. It developed over a 2 day period, and is quite large. Just wondering what it is, and has anyone seen it before. This picture ain't too good as it wouldn't keep still. Any thoughts or ideas? The water hasn't changed and they are feeding just as good as usual. He doesn't seem to be ill in himself, but am a bit worried. Ta. |

Tumor, i think if so, the nicest thing to do would be to put it in some alcove(spelling) oil, with water, not too much though, search around this forum, there will be the answers, sorry to say this

If he's fine I wouldn't worry too much.
Killing him seems a bit extreme if it's a tumour as it won't be passed onto the other fish. But, if he does get worse then obviously it may be fairer to put him out of his misery. |

KILL HIM??? You must be joking!!! Never thought of a tumour, but come to think of it, it does look like that. It only took 3 days to grow, and it's very big I'm gutted I love this fish. He doesn't look to be in pain, that is he isn't acting strangely and is still feeding well. Any chance it could be something else a bit less drastic |

Like I've said if he's healthy don't kill him.
Woz's idea could be right, certain cichlids do develop lumps as they get older, but when it's developed so quickly I doubt it's that. |

Thanks for the idea, but it definately isn't a normal lump!!! As you say, not at the rate of it's growth anyway. I definately won't kill him |
