Clean the tank with white vinegar but give it a good clean afterwards.

The bogwood i would do with the jetwash that should do it.

Both symptoms that you describe do sound to me to be related to water quality

Might not need to completely break down the tank to sterilise it if that's the cause

Bleach the tank, and use hot soapy water - make sure you wash it out several times with cold water.

Boil the gravel in small batches.

throw the bog wood and plants away.

I have had loads of diffrent tanks and always bleach them.

Any. House hold stuff.

Domestos of Aldi's own .

As long as you rinse it PROPER then its fine.

Rinse it a few times.

Would you wash a drinking glass in hot soap water with bleach in - and then drink from it another day once its been cleaned properly? Yes so whats the problem.

Glass isnt porpus so wont hold onto the bleach.

If your worried, once you have rinsed it few times, and added the water back in, put a couple of cheap fish back in, like a gold fish or a neon or something for a few days.
