can anyone tell me if the Discus wormer powder can treat Hexamita???
This is a fairly common ailment with small Discus. It is an intestinal parasite, commonly brought on by even the slightest stress. If the fish look dark, have white, stringy looking white feces and are generally listless, this may be the problem. Most times they will hide in the back corner, usually facing the back of the tank.
One of my Discus is showing signs of this! i treated with "Fish wormer, fluke and parasite killer "
i treated the fish on wednesday and hes still not eating however hes passing on white feces |

I thought that Flubenol did not touch Hex, is not Metrodinazole the thing to control it? Dimetronidazole is even better, but I dont think it is manufactured anymore. |

to update i sent a nice email to one of the big Discus sponsors on this forum
they advised as alan said "esha hexamita"
after a 40% water change i added Hexamita along with a new nitrazorb pouch to absorb traces of nitrate and a little Vitazin
the fish in question very soon showed signs of improovment
next morning he eat frozen brineshrimp and has no signs of white phoo.
its had its final treatment today sunday so hope hes all fixed up now!
( while he was not eating food at feeding times he was pecking at plants and algie) |
