Does anybody have any ideas with a poorly Mbu. He is aprox 18" and has been in good health upto about ten days ago. Has stopped eating and shows very little interest in food. I think that he might possibly have an intestinal blockage due to the shape of his stomach. Does anybody no of any veterinary hospital that specialises in fish? |

Afraid to say he has a bactarial infection and prob wont make it. Nile's and mbu's often die from it, its like food poisoning.
I lost mine to it and know of many others.
I would recommend salt baths 2-4 times a day, but that will be hard with him being 18" and not being able to take him out of water (he'll just take in air).
Hope this helps and I know how horrible it is. I had to finish mine off as he got so bad and would lie on his side. |

He's actually eaten a couple of apple snails this evening. Have dosed the tank with salt, methyle blue and anti-intestinal bacteria medication. At this point there seems to be nothing to loose. Has anybody heard of an aquatic pharmecutical company. I know they have them in the states but have never heard of one in this country? |

The tank is very heavily filtered and all test come back fine. Even has them double checked at LFS to be sure. |

Nitrates will have nothing to do with it, although they are sensitive to everything.
How is he? |
