Have to agree with you on this one Mr. Pope.
Just watch, loads of people creep out of the wood work for this thread! |

defo been a lot quieter on here for a couple of months now, maybe its cos peeps are fed up with being insulted by a select few?or could be certain folks that contributed to the fun side of it have been banned?whatever it is i for one hope it picks up cos i used to love coming on here for advice + banter, but now its normally a case of "oh still noone bothered to write a thread" |

I agree to, seems to have been real quiet for quite a long time.
I found this site in Jan, I was impressed, loads of posts and threads and some great questions. Just seems to have gone a bit quiet over the last month or 2, wonder where they are all hanging out?
I think this site is great, but it could 'pinch' a few ideas off some other sites i.e. Who is logged on to the site indicator and for chat, and the threads would be better if they were organised by subject (like the adverts).
Not moaning though, as I said, its a good site, if not a little quieter now. |

You make a good point mr Telboy..... |

Is it not about time Paul Stevens gets his true identity back.
I for one am involved in another forum dedicated for malawis and just looks in here to see whats going on. Though it was good from time to time when riot broke out on the forum i think it just got a bit to much. There was to much nastiness and personal remarks flying round everywhere. In time i think it will pick back up.
I think we should campaign to webbie for the reinstallation of Mr Stevens, could be a step in the right direction.

I think Mr stevens was a great assit to this site, and after he left i lost interest a fair bit, bring back and come back the likes of stevens, clown loach lady, lexter, Tartin jock, Dave, all the old school lot, we use to have some good fun, including Jay, higgins and alike |

I never heard of them people other than Paul Stevens.
What hapened to him?
Why did some people get threw off? |

09-09-2007 06:33 by Nick G
|
Totally agree with Trik and Keith T, made this point myself on a few threads over the last month or so. Used to add real valued comments at times |
09-09-2007 06:34 by Nick G
|
Surprised Webby has not posted a comment as of yet, hop he has not drifted to another site as well, or this one will be doomed |

|
Paul Stevens is a nice man i have met him. |
09-09-2007 11:26 by -Rob C-
|
But at the same time he did add a lot of rubbish, so it's understandable why he got banned.
This isn't a nasty dig at all, he did add valuable contributions to threads, but sometimes added comments that weren't relevant. |

I dont post on here much now,I have tried to help but have been insulted and threatend in the past, there is a post about Malawis at the top of the page that I would have replied to but feel there is no point as I will only be jumped on,Ray. |
09-09-2007 12:10 by Fry Lover

Ray why dont you post, is the Malawi my thread? i know some of the Malawi purists wont particularly like my stocking combination or want to advise against or just generally advise, please do contribute to it. |

I think Paul Stevens has been busy with his new project of breeding Daphnia, he might not even want to come back?
|

I agree with Telboy on this, read threads where people obviously don't listen, or people are just getting slated. I still visit here everyday to have a look, but am busy elsewhere working on other forums. |

09-09-2007 19:53 by Fry Lover

ok Pope, i think now you mention it.... Paul said he was trying to "breed daphnia"
maybe he meant "i am trying to breed with Daph" |

Any chance of webbie answering Rob's original Q? |
09-09-2007 20:07 by robert.pope
|
Nick im sure webbie will add to this when he sees it !
to be honest i could have sent it direct to him ......Hes must be a busy man keeping both pet and fish forums and stil finding time for all his fish tanks and water changes |
09-09-2007 21:48 by webmaster
|
There does seem to have been a reduction in active forum posters. Maybe this is because whilst some use general fishkeeping forums like this one, many have moved into specific forums that deal with their focus area (marines, malawis, etc). There are a multitude of forums out there competing for your attention. |
09-09-2007 22:10 by Nick G
|
Webbie - Would there be any way that the threads could be sorted into subject area, thus the site would be specialised by listing different ocus and would be general by having a general area? I know this is not a small ask, but I was wondering what your steer on this would be?
P.S. Great to hear from you, ask Yanton to post how he is getting on with his new Gian Betta's as well as to post some more pics of his new fish and tanks, they are stunning!!! |
09-09-2007 22:12 by Nick G
|
OOps - ...... diffeent focus |
09-09-2007 23:22 by -Rob C-
|
Nick you can sort through what you want through the links near the top of the page. |
10-09-2007 08:09 by webmaster
|
Yes you can sort through topic areas using those links (next to the blue PM link).
Of course this depends on what category posters list their threads in |

PS: I do also look after another 100+ websites, but this is by far my main interest as it is my hobby.
We do have a few developments for this site in the pipeline, but always welcome ideas and suggestions ... |

is there any way we can bring Higgins / Paul Owens out of retirement? I emailed him recently but no reply.
Do you remember all his "cloudy water" threads? and after all that, it turned out his wife was nipping down during the night and releasing ammonia into his set-up via her bladder |
10-09-2007 22:03 by Nick G

Can you get a test kit for that?? |

so fry lover where you been for the past 18 months.......done a stretch in clink
i do miss that old man they use to call Lexter |
10-09-2007 23:39 by -Rob C-
|
I think it's been nice without him Rob
There is a few of the old crowd left, but not many. There doesn't seem to be many newcomers staying to replace the people that leave though. Most just ask one or two questions then are away. |

i been helping Paul set up his daphnia farm, after his blood worm breeding project failed (the guy thought he could buy frozen blood worm, put them in warm water and they would breed) then he was going to feed them to his Arrowana.
apart from that i been on a couple of forums, in the last 6 months i been chopping changing tanks etc, so in a manic phase at the moment.
i did miss you Pope, always a true gent!!!
Is there any threads with your set-ups on?
|
10-09-2007 23:57 by robert.pope
|
one or two fry lover!
its nice to have you back on board!
so is paul now buying dry daphnia and re-hidrating
set up at the moment is a 36x15x12 baby Oranda tank ( we bread the babys before loosing the parents to desease) spent many pounds treating but to no results
16x18x15 mixed comunity tank !
Discus,golden Rams,clown loaches,cardinals,corydoras..
|
11-09-2007 00:07 by Fry Lover
|
16x18x15, like a cube? how water does that hold?
Regarding re-hydrating dried daphnia, i am sure thats something Paul will now consider for his next project.
I think Perky's biggest difficulty right now is trying to get his Daphnia to pair up. |
11-09-2007 00:09 by Fry Lover
|
"how water does that hold?"
sounds like Yoda from Star Wars asking "how does it hold water"
what i meant was "how MUCH water does that tank hold" |
11-09-2007 00:45 by robert.pope

sorry a type error shuld have read 36x18x15 at 150 litres filterd at between 600&700 litres hour through a eheim 2236 ecco filter

Notice the wink after as in it's a joke. But obviously, you wouldn't want to put that in your quote would you? I never disputed the fact you're old, so I don't see why you're making a big deal of it.
Or is it just one of those days where Wayne isn't a happy boy so is going to have a go at people? |

ROB YOUR JUST A LITTLE BOY , BALLS JUST DROPPED , GROWING HAIR IN PLACE YOU NEVER THOUGHT POSSIBLE AND HORMONES RAGING , YOUR THE ONE WHO ATTACKS EVERYONE AND MAKE MUG COMMENTS ALL THE TIME |

Mr Pope raises a good point in my book, although there are a few old names on here (Wayne etc )....
'There is a few of the old crowd left, but not many. There doesn't seem to be many newcomers staying to replace the people that leave though. Most just ask one or two questions then are away.'
Thats my worry, the chat side of the site is a dead duck now in my opinion, if you log on all you tend to see is 'Is anyone there etc' posts, going back on the scroll bar, that is the same posts that have been logged for a few days
I think that this site is great, I log on every single day, to read and when it is appropriate, to post a question or reply, but my worry is that there are fewer of the old school on here and the newbies last a Q' or two......
I like this site as it is simple, there are a few great characters on the site who post regularly, it is less formal/cold than other sites (again due to the personalities) and posts generally answer genuine questions and are not extensions of peoples ego's.
So, in a nutshell, I am worried about the site and its longivity, as I genuinely like it and use it.
I do still think that a 'logged on' counter on the site that would display who was on it at the time you are would be a great addition (I mentioned this a long while ago, but understand the impact on programming etc) but I feel that this would add to the sustainability of the site and encourage people to post/use chat.
I know it shouldn't be down to just marketing, but is there any competition's in the pipeline mr Webbie?? |

Even the porkmiester has been quiet of late |
11-11-2007 21:38 by -Rob C-

I agree completely Nick (hence why you quoted me ), I share your worries.
As far as this "debate" with Wayne goes, it's pointless, whatever is said he'll make immature insults that add nothing of any value. |
