I am getting a new tank, and in it includes x2 Keyholes and x2 Bolivians, they all about the 1.5" mark and currently kept with Cichlids and Botia Loaches.

I am wondering if i might get away with putting them in my planted community tank, here's some info on that tank

- 48x24x18 approx 300-litres
- Very densely planted
- Current inhabitants; Corydoras, Baby Bristlenose, Small Gouramis, Zebra Danios, Various Small Tetra's including lots of Neons, Guppies, Platies and a few Swordtails

The owner reports that in over a year neither the Keyholes and Rams have looked like spawning or forming pairs, so i am not too worried about them breeding right now (which would increase the risk factor of violence obviously)

My questions.......

1. Will the small tetra's be at risk (i dont believe so, especially not from the Keyholes and i know a lot will depend on the indiivdual personality of the Rams)

2. One of my goals with this tank is to raise loads of Platy and Guppy fry, and the tank has lots of tall plants and floating plants to help facilitate this. By putting Keyholes and Rams in, can i say goodbye to lots of fry through predation?

I "might" set up a fry rearing tank and just take fry out of my main tank when ever i see them. This will obviouly help me with my Live-bearer rearing project (its always been a dream of mine to rear and sell livebearers, not for profit, just to give people some quality guppies and platies rather than the LFS drivel you often see)

you just noticed

Regarding the question at hand, i am going to use my spare 48x12x15 as a fry "grow out" tank and whenever i see fry in my big community planted just take them out. At the moment i have so many floating plants, a lot of fry survive to adult-hood.

I think i def gonna put the Keyholes and Rams in there, they are coming from quite a bare 48" tank, so they will love my fully planted 48"
