Prehaps a daft question but i thought i would check with you experts. Does nitrite smell? One of my tanks is newly setup, and hte filters are new. It STINKS. Its clean, and i have been doing water changes but at the moment the nitrite is off the scale. Im not too worried about this, as i know it will go down - i just wanted to know if this is the smell. Im pritty sure that when i set my other tanks up i had a similar smell for a few weeks. |

new tanks always smell, till the water matures, then it takes on a sweet smell... |

Im setting up all my tanks in the house in the utility room. If it stinks my wife will want rid. |

there must have been some times when your wife didnt smell 100%, try to think about those times and remind her that you stuck by her, so she needs to show a bit of *** loyalty if the fish tanks smell  |

the smell comes from decomposition of any organic material the by product is nitrite |
