I have a 55 gallon planted with 4 angels some tetras and a kribensis. I just recently purchased a german blue ram. He is still pretty small. I noticed that the krib chases him, not that much, but just when he swims into the ram's area. Is this bad for the ram (first time w/ them) or are they tough?

kribs chase everything, try having a pair in a community tank and then youll have trouble, i dont think youll have problems in a tank that size, but i may be wrong

Kribs dont chase everything in my experience (no offence Woz-Master), it depends on the individual personality of the Krib, i've had my share of "killer kribs" but also had some Kribs who about as much trouble as a Corydoras! This even includes a breeding pair.

I would say it all depends on the behaviour of the Ram actually as opposed the Krib (unless the Krib is going mental!), if he (Ram) is withdrawing totally and/or gets damaged by the Krib then you got a problem. If its just the occasional bit of territorial argy-bargy, probably wont be a problem if there is enough cover in the 55 gallon. Not necessaily so called "hiding places" as if a fish needs a hiding place from another fish its never good, but i mean things in tank that naturally break up the "line of sight" between the x2 fish, like big(ish) rocks, lots of plants, high bog wood (or any half decent size bog wood)etc

Keep us posted

Be good to get an update from you, many times with Cichlids, thing kind of "kick off" initially when new fish added then all settles again.

What most people seem to miss is the fact that Kribs are African cichlids so shouldn't be kept with SA cichlids to start with.
