Based on these pics, can you tell, its about 10"
Or do you need to see the whole fish with his Fins to tell?
Do the markings on his under-body mean anything in terms of a Gibbi or a Common? |

As my daugther says "tell is to stop licking the glass"!!
She knows not to touch |

mwilde your pleco is about 300% more attractive than mine, moving mine on, looks like it might be a "give away" job, i never see t, didnt get it to be the centre peice of my tank, but if i dont see a fish, i dont keep a fish |

Trust me you'll miss it if you get rid of it, without it you won't see any of your fish - so much algae on your glass! |

i hear you Rob, thing is, he's in my Rio 300 Malawi "mix" set-up and i already have successful measures in place for algae, even before he got in there. I only have the lights on 4-5 hrs in the evening for starters, i do a 24 hour black out (well just no light) once a week, and i have x2 Bristlenose and a Sucking Loach in there.
The problem being, as a 10" fish, all he does really is contribute to the Nitrate and stocking level (obviously) he doesnt actually have a role in the tank as i never see him, hes beautiful when he does occasionally come out, so i am going to find an other home for him, a good one. I got him free from someone who had him in a 24x12x15, i wasnt actually looking for a 10" Pleco so to speak!!!!
Is it normal for big Pleco's to be this shy, in terms of just being in one place for 95% of the time? Or perhaps a sign of unhappyness?
UNCLE - you room for him? give me £1, a cup of tea and a stroke of your dog and he's yours

He'll probably be a lot more active at night time, that's when most plecos are most active.
Keep an eye on the sucking loach - they can get nasty. |

yep, the sucking loach is about 2.5" at moment, am hoping he'd be okay in a Malawi tank, will keep an eye on him, |

my plecs are constantly out in my malawi tanks, normal ones are out a fair bit, but the bristlenoses are always out, your problem may be that it can lay in a cave or whatever just because of its size and nothing will dare to move it on, my plecs only about 6inch and doesnt really get bothered by anything |
