i know the pics are rubbish
anybody know what this fish is?
i was given 2 of them yesterday
they have blueish lips and lots of teeth(which are hidden by the lips)
the stripes are blackish and a golden yellow |

i forgot to say the eyes are not like the jade eye cichlid they are just normal if you know what i mean.i must learn to take propper pictures

the large one is about 8 inches the smaller one is about 4
i have not seen these in the shops? |

Unless you have a pair (which you won't know easily) they are likely to rip each other to bits at some point they are one of the few cichlids I would say definately should be kept alone they are extremely territorial.
Lots of character though but do you have 2 6x2x2 knocking about spare?
If you can accomodate them keep them they will be very difficult to rehome. |

if butties,be prepared for carnage mate! these are evil mean muthas,keep em away from other fish...but no doubt someone will be along to tell you they are placid + get along fine with guppies or summat |

butterkofferi are not worth anything and are really aggressive,if u end up with a pai prepare to give em a tank to themselfs. |

i think these two will be for sale very soon. we dont have the tank space for them.
they are in 2 tanks at the min,have just put 3 small talapia maria's in to the tank with the large male
there is now 1 small talipia in the tank with the large male
i have loads of the maria's as well...........no one wants them either..........fish food
the male is a very good specimine
its a shame we dont have the space for him or his mate |

Tel this was a huge tank ,its all about space give them a big enough tank and they will avoid each other but most have not got room. |

like all else hav said these are some of the nastiest aquarium fish. theyll kill fish 3 times their size
so careful

there from lake victoria i believe, grow huge and red tailed catfish like to eat them( seen the lfs feed a big one to a redtail |
