thanks for replys, lnrak no i didnt "scrounge" anything, i never do, i acquire things free or cheap!why pay when theres no need, swopsies always the best way to go in my book...kev yep have x2 1100lph power heads in there, along with a spray bar at the back on the bottom...lurver man,yes it is a cleaner wrasse,by the way calico con is doing good at home, but will be moving him to wh asap cheers |

You have been smitten by the marines tel welocome to the club. The cleaner wrasse is the only marine i had trouble keeping, its feeding the blighters it needs the parasites that live on fish to fare well but i am sure someone on here is going to tell me different maybe even bred them ,tank looks nice put an elephant nose wrasse in and the tank will be like the M1 on a friday.I am going back into tropicals myself maybe discus and going to sell the setup i have ,this one cost quite a lot or maybe swop for discus. |

Looking good Tel, i would think about upgrading them small PH though, try and get some water and air exchange going in the tank it will help with oxygen as well . |
02-10-2007 17:35 by telboy
|
1100lph small?maybe for your beastie of a tank mate but mines only 125litres,+ all the livestock i have prefer slow to moderate flow trik,i know they say 20-30 times turnover but i find this just blasts everything +the fish just hideaway...my turn over without filter is nearly 18times,do reckon i should have more? |
02-10-2007 17:37 by Ed
|
Tel i would sell the tank complete as i think its too small 48x18x12 wide 40 kilos live rock with lit sump,it was the tank i had made in a joiners top class cabinet and hood .I enjoyed keeping chiclids but after 15 years of keeping marines somtimes you need a change look at yanton great set up including a moorish idle that was feeding well ,a change is a good idea now and again.

Yes mate, aim them to the surface and behind the LR, helps with gas exchageand keeps the LR free from detrus. |

trik, what size skimmer should i be aiming for on this setup?aint got one at mo but will do when funds allow |
02-10-2007 18:26 by trik
|
Depending on stock levels, go for at least 2 times the tank volume, as manafactures under do there ratings, if funds allow you can pick up A DELTEC mce 600 or 500 for under £100 0n ebay, or you may just get away with a V2 600. |
02-10-2007 18:26 by trik
