Posted How to get rid of a crab?

I have got a problem in my marine tank, my soft corals are being eaten. I presume by a crab as I have found bits of moulded shell in the tank.
What's the best way of getting rid of a crab? Is there any traps I could use?

howabout the ol bait in a bottle trik, bit of yummie stuff in a small plastic/glass clean bottle, sit up with a red light in ya torch[marine cant see red apparently]wait for the wee beastie to go in for a free munch then whip the bottle out, sump up or flush the critter ... or ya could dismantle the whole tank to try n find the blighter, just like ive had to do,never get it back the way it was though!

What bait would you suggest using Tel?
Had a go at finding him by dismantling the tank, but no luck!

Thanks Wayne, so helpful.

The first time I've made a thread needing advice in ages and within a few posts people are taking p***, maybe this is why people don't post much on this site.

If you have the space within your aquaria, try the following.

Purchase a "water" pop bottle of around 1-2lt in capacity. Cut off the upper third (bit with the neck) & invert it into the lower half. You should now have a funneled "entrance" (which depending on the size of the crab may need enlarging). The two halfs can be "stapled" together or fastend with tie tags. Punch/drill a few water exchange holes in the whole object to allow water flow etc.
Bait the inner with a "fishy" type of food & lower into the aquaria. Leave overnight & usually by the following morning you should have captured the little bu**er.
The inverted shaped neck/entrance will prevent him from escaping, providing you construct it correctly.

Well after trying to trap him I got no where, but I finally found him in a piece of live rock. He now boiled and flushed down the toilet.

Ok then Wayne. I'm sure you're right.
