wont help to use silicone as the silicone does not bond with perspex it only hold about a month then it came loose from you glass and as you dont detect it straight away you will have a sump not doing its job. i tried on several occasions and the perspex came loose and once it left us with a flooded room |

good luck to you ed but we tried silicone on several occasions and it just came loose after na month or two i got a perspex sump on my marine tank and all my dividers came loose wich led me to install angle plastic with plastic screws to hold dividers in place thats why you cant silicone perspex tanks as they dont hold my next sump i plan will be glass with glass dividers and i will have peace off mind |

4mm plate is enough as long as its filled evenly so six is no probs, perspaex is more hassle than its worth, low modulus silicon sometimes holds new perspex but high modulus just wont |
