I have a 7ft (130 gallon) tropical freshwater aquarium.
I am looking at running a 4ft sump filter on this tank.
Is the sump big enough and will a schuran overflow box be enough for this setup.
There are 9 5-6 inch caribe piranha in the tank,so it can be quite messy at feeding times. But i`m looking to sell 3 of them
Thanks |

If i were you i wouldn't bother with a sump and jsut run a large external filter somthing like an FX5 and could you put up some photos of your piranha? |

a four foot sump will be large enough and if built well will out filter any large external (even an fx5)whether the overflow box will be enough is dependant on how much water you try to pass through it, if your sump pump is too fast then add a T piece and return half of the water back to the start of the sump via an overtank trickle(you may need an inline tap or two) , i run one about twice the size of a show tank full of bio balls and it handles the filtration (biological) on my young rtc's tank , i just finished building a sump for a 72x25x24 aqua one commercial tank you wont beat one if tis right |

I use two Eheim Pro3's and two xp3's on an eight footer with a large mbu and others. Good water quality and clarity but one hell of an electricity bill! |
