My LFS has told my mate that a good way to lower PH is adding small amounts of concentrated LIME CORDIAL to the tank..... I can see that it would obviously work - BUT is this safe for the fishes???? Anyone advise or strongly advise AGAINST this, or has anyone tried it - if so, what were the results?? (positive or negative) Cheers all.... |

lime cordial is likely to contain sugar if it does then expect a very foul tank, try adding peat to the filter , works but not easy to control |

i've got a tank stuffed with bog wood, been leaching tannins all over the place for months,
Tap Water pH, this tank pH and pH of my Malawi / Ocean rock tank all the SAME
I think wood can sometimes have an effect on pH, but it's a complete old wives tale that bog wood automatically lowers pH

Heard of using lemon juice and bicarb of soda to affect and alter PH up and down. Bi carb works well... |

Just wondering if it's a safe way to lower it - that's all. I know about bogwood etc. - just that I thought it was a bit of a funny thing to advise.... |
