Filter leak! |

Hi,
I'm new here and i'm about to buy a new filter if i can't fix the problem with my current one.
It's an eheim 2224 external filter and it leaks from one side. The thing is it does it when the power is off and the valves are on. When i turn the power back on it stops leaking.
If i can't fix it i was wondering if anyone can recommend another. I have quite a few bags of those ceramic noodles and substrate stuff too so it will have to be eheim again unless i can use the media in a TETRATEC EX or something similar?..not sure.
Any help much appreciated,
Simon

Hi Tony,
I dont know if the rubber seal can be removed or moved. It's slotted in. If i can i will check again.
Thanks,
Simon |

i had the same problem with a fluval 404 and all i did was siliconed it all round and when i need to clean it or replace the filter media i just peel it clean it and re-seal it not easy but cheap and effective |

Very unusual for an eheim check that there is no debris preventing a good seal and if thats not it I suspect the rubber seal may have perished spares are easily obtainable from eheim. |

there is sometimes a lot of talk about "rubber seals" on leaking filter threads, but none of my eheims have these so called rubber seals.
