can anyone tell me the best place to purchase foam to go between the stand and fish tank, and what density foam is best for an 8 x 2 x 2 tank.
thanks |

an 8ft tank wont cope well with flex so best to get some fairly soft polystyrene dont use polyeurathane or styrofoam ,what is your stand made of? |

being constructed of breeze blocks, wooden planks and plywood all painted black.
So would polystyrene be better for the job or a higher density foam? |

if you cant squeeze it between your thumb and finger then its too hard, imagine the front r/h corner of your stand is 6mm higher than the rear l/h corner with a high density foam it will not crush that much the tank will twist and you can guess the outcome so an inch thick and squeezable for the base , i built a stand for a 36x18x18 once out of wood, ran it for ages , when i stripped it down the middle two legs had gotten solid footing the outer two pairs had not i ended up with a polystyrene base less the 3mm thick in the middle and still 12mm thick on both outside edges if i had used something harder the tank would have broken?? |
