Hi All,
Has anyone used one of these in their tanks? If so I have a few questions:
1. Once fixed to the tank, do you need to wash this before you fill the tank up?
2. Mine has a tube (at te top). Does this mean there is a filter system in it? Or is it just an input for air?
3. It's made of soft foam like stuff - doe this last? any issues?

The instructions enclosed arent very descriptive, sometimes its even a bit cryptic!!!

Thanks for your time

Hi,
Here's a (not very good) pic of the background. Have circled the air inlet(?) at the top. Sorry no batteries on my camera, so had to use the mobile!!!

Surely that's just for decorative purposes???? Wouldn't have thought there was a filter in there!!

the poly foam should be rinsed , some fish chew bits off (puffers)but it lasts indefinately thetube could be for hiding an undergravel uplift?

to me it looks like just the background, most nowadays come with gaps for uplift tubes for UG filters, or for heaters, you can get foam backgrounds similar, that do act as a filter[bio chemical] but they dont work very well...the above backgrounds are best stuck on using silicon before you fill tyhe tank with water

I have the same for my tank. my loaches and cat fish love it, mind you dont leave any gaps though or the fish will get behind it, mine has been in for about a month and a half and have had no probs yet

Hi All,
Thanks for your replies. I did manage to track down som propoer instructions from the manufacturer.
This is a background with an air inlet. I will know how it works once I have it up and running - friday methinks.

Silverstream - good one about the gaps - will do - tks.

I've heard of these they are basically a back ground that acts as a filter you use an air pump to draw water through the foam.

Me thinks will get mucky very quick and block and not work, I give it a year at best.
