Tucker, BAS used to be great about ten years ago, but they are poor now compared to how BAS used to be. Their proces are extorsionate, their tanks cracked, dirty and fish quality poor, thier customer service is non existant and I cannot believe that PFK's review of the store earlier this year did not pick up on any of these points.
Don't get me wrong, their imports for the trade are good, its just the quality of their fish that they have in their tanks that I have issue with.
They are over priced on all dry goods and filters and this is even when they have the BAS flash price purchase tickets on. Even Pets at Home sell the Fluvals cheaper than a specialist store such as BAS is. |

In fact, there are only 4 good shops in the north west that I would even try to rate, Pier Aquatics, Maidenhead at Wigan, Aquahome at Leyland and one just outside Leyland in a Wyevale garden centre.
Not saying they are cheap, but their fish are good, health, tanks clean, customer service spot on and relatively competatively proced. If I ever win the lottery, there is a huge niche in the nort west for a decent, large, clean well stocked aquatic destination shop.
Just off to check my numbers........... |

Last time I was in BAS, all their books on aquatics, fish keeping and species were all water damaged, full priced and yellow with age.......... |
