I took on a black pacu from someone who was selling their tank & the buyer didn't want any more fish - BIG mistake. He's outgrown my tank & I can't find anyone to take him. I didn't know what he was & always assumed that fish only grow to the size of the tank they are in. wrong.......... |

Jessica what fish did you keep the syno with I have kept many for over a decade with hardly any problems although I would never keep them with anything smaller than 2" just to be on the safe side. |

|
Incidentally the worst fish I have ever bought is a powder blue surgeon with out fail they always get white spot and cause a reef tank disaster I don't keep any tangs now I can't be bothered with them. |

|
all synos ive had have started off ok, but end up as bullies! |
23-01-2008 16:06 by Alan
|
They are territorial fish that require careful tank design i.e. plenty of hidey holes I have never had a problem with them and some of my synos are very large.
You mustn't underestimate how robust they are when choosing tank mates they are great with big cichlids and other large fish.
Put them in a planted tank with neons though and it would be carnage.
I keep 8 or so in the same tank and have very few disputes as they all have their own place to hide. |
