the eggs take 2 to 3 days to hatch depending on the nest temperature, which can be different to the water temp. The male should be ok for 2 days once the eggs hatch, but I would remove him soon after hatching as he may turn cannibal quite quickly.well done and good luck, ray.

thanks ray, dont look like ther are loads of eggs only 30 or so do you think he may be eating them now should i take him out and put a light air supply in thanks

He could be eating them, especially if this is the first time he has bred,I always took both parents out,if you take him out dont use an airstone as this will destroy the nest,it is the nest that supplys a higher rate of oxygen to the eggs.
