Depends on the fish/ stocking density?
If standard community tank could prob get away with the 2217. But if keeping slightly bigger or messy fish then look at bigger ehiems like pro 2 or pro 3, or even better and cheaper a 2250.
With the latter you'll be able to pack them in as it'll cope very easily.
Fluvel FX5 is also a good option, very cheap second hand too.
Hope this helps, always over filter. To give you an idea, ive got filters rated to 2000 litres on my 650 tank and their barely enough with big messy fish. |

fluval fx5 mate, as Jake said, overfilter is better than underfilter |

your right Rob.p i was into the marine side, well remembered. I had to give it up due to time constraints e.g *** work!!
Nigel and Linda C bought ost of my stock and bits. I have just set up a small 2x1.5x1 tank for easy keep and need a new filter which Nigel and Linda have very very kindly donated my way.
Thanks chaps!!!
your super!

If you take both the 2215 and 2217 they would be sufficient for the 4x2x2 I would avoid fluval if you look through previos posts you will see they have many floors!
I have used both fluval and eheim and the engineering of the eheims is far above that of the fluvals. |
