Has anyone on here used wormer plus?
If so has anyone had any problems with it?
I have had a parasite problem for sometime that reappears every 6 months or so.
Water quality is fine before anyone goes down this line the parasites present do not seem to feed off the fish in any way just piss them off big time causing horendous flicking at certain times of the day.
There are no visible signs of the invader I think using this wormer plus may be of benefit to my fish anyway as it is quite possible they have worms even though they are all healthy.
Just interested to know whether anyone has experience with the stuff. |

just bought some today to use myself Alan. 2 weeks ago i used some of the older wormer and i think this passed some worms out of the fish as over the past 2 days i have seen like small tapeworms on the glass above water level
Wormer pluse is said to be stronger and no need to overdose
I know alot of the people on BIDKA (discus keeping forum)use the stuff so im giving it a try
give it a try as its only around £6 a pack

I have used the "old" wormer plus with great success, it works quickly and has very low toxicity to fish. However the "new" Kusuri product appears to be a different product (lower concentration of active ingredient and the inexplicable addition of calcium)The original manufacturer of wormer plus stated that his formulation of 15% Flubenol was the correct percentage to avoid resistance in the parasites. The new product is only 5% (strangely similar to Bayer's pig wormer)I think it was formulated for Koi perhaps that is why Kusuri are making it. I have yet to hear positive feedback on the new product, perhaps the percentage of active ingredient does not matter, does anybody know? |

I have read it is a completely new mix and whilst the active ingredient has been reduced it is quite possible other ingredients have been added to act as a catalyst for the active ingredient enabling a lower dosage to be just as effective.
I think I will give this stuff a go just need to get hold of some now!
Does anyone know of any shops that sell the stuff would like to avoid having to pay for delivery if at all possible.
Incidentally what fish do you both keep and did you notice any side effects? |

I have only used the "old" wormer plus, but I am sure the Kusuri product would not harm fish. Flubendazole has extremely low toxicity to fish, I have used it on Altum angels and other extreme softwater fish as well as some hard water Aphanius with no probs whatsoever. There have been reported problems with using some preparations of Flubenol, Flubendazole, Mebendazole (I believe they are all analogues of the same drug) the probs were cited as being down to solvents (DMSO I think) used in their preparation. If you are using a preparation sold for fish use, I doubt that there would be a problem. I know people who have successfuly used Bayer's Flubendazole pig wormer for external parasites on Koi as well as Panacur horse wormer, but unless you have all the information on these products I think it's a bit dodgy |

I have used wormer plus and have to say I am pretty impressed the fish were not bothered at all but the pathogens clearly were as the fish showed an increase in flicking this lasted for a couple of days before the flicking began to decrease after 5 days all flicking has stopped those fish that were most affected have stopped flicking almost altogether as it directs for heavy infestations I will be carrying out a water change shortly and will redose the tank on Thursday which is 7 days after the first dose this is recommended when dealing with heavy infestations of flukes.
I am very impressed with this stuff the fish have shown no ill effects as yet from the treatment and water quality has remained spot on despite all the snails being obliterated by this treatment definately not invert safe!
All the fish have noticably perked up.
I bought the wormer plus from plymouth discus if anyone else was curious about trying the stuff it is designed to be used with Discus as a routine wormer every month. |
