16-01-2008 21:32 by big cats	mdf would have to be coated with primer and the only primer i know of is water based , you should only ever use polyurethane varnish with fish tanks, maybe you could consider upvc cladding it is water proof and very cheap (also available in loads of colours )
16-01-2008 21:34 by robert.pope	as telboy says seal it well! i made my tank hood out of solid ash and then gave it 2 coats of danish oil! it has a tight fitting condensation cover but it still turned a bit black from moisture!
16-01-2008 21:36 by robert.pope	dont do what i did ! i kept my hood to the minimum and from the lights it realy does get HOT! my lights sit on the cover glass,and its a pain for maintaining
