hello
any advice please two days ago my sucker fish ( not sure what breed but he is long and yellow ) has got what looks just like bruising down each side of him
just wondering what this could be he is still eating and swimming around but does seem to stay more on the front glass of the tank for hours he has been happy in the tank seems to get on well with all the other fish so cannot understand this he is a sod for jumping/hitting the top of the glass could this be why
also dont know if this means anything but just lately i have notice quite a few small snails in the tank dont know where they could of come from
any help please |

Snails are easy to transfer around, i try to keep mine for my puffers but they can come in the fish bags or on the plants from the shops, i put mine in a pot with dead plants on the windowsill to harvest them! not to sure about the fish tho. sometimes my fish discolor when they are stressed, maybe its that? |

the snails will thrive if you are overfeeding your tank. a common mistake. try halving the amount you feed and you'll see a diffrence within a fortnight its that simple.
i wouyld say you have a sucking loach and if hes trying to get out of the tank id suspect your water conditions are on the painfull side to him. do you carry out the regular water changes etc? the bruising you mention is intresting ive seen this in sucking loach before its more of a dark red right? more common prolific the side of the head? again this is common in bad water conditions or cold conditions. that said you would have to go pretty cold for this to happen. |
