If the tank is 8x2x2 im assuming you havent got enough rock to get close to filling the tank with as much rock as you would use in a malawi setup?
At the moment all i keep is african cichlids and i personally dont think that ocean rock buffers the water too much at all ( and you should see how much rock ive got in my main tank..Alot )
So i dont think that alittle rock would be too much of a problem in a tank that size, correct me if im wrong guys.
Also even though the tank is HUGE, have you considered how many breeding pairs your going to get? ive had two breeding pairs in a 4foot tank before and they werent best pleased
