I have a gold gurorami and we bought another one the other day and put it in the tank with it and i one that had been in there for longer started chasing and picking at the other one, is the any way to make this stop. It got to where it tore up her back fin and we had to put her in another tank while she healed. By looking at there fins the new one that we put in was a female and the one we had in there for a while was a male, i read that males wouldn't get along but they are of different sex. Can anyone help thanks

Maybe you could rearrange your tank, break up the old gouramis territory, or maybe they just might never get on.

Most of the aggession will be from the male as the female is not ready to breed ,take the male out feed the female with daph and bloodworm for a week then add the male and you should become a dad in 2 weeks.

I've gold x4 Gold Gouramis, there's always a bit of aggro but no damage.

I think Ed thinks they are Siamese Fighting Fish, because of the title of the thread.

Sorry if i am wrong Master Edwardo

Gold gouramis are generally aggressive towards other gouramis. Adding some more may help disperse the agression, as FL has. However it may just be easier to only have one.

I really dont want ot breed them i just read that male were agressive towards other males espically during the breeding times I think i am going to try and get a bigger tank and add other gold gouramis. I think i will try the other thing and change up the tank a little bit.

Thanks Guys

i just noticed about the damage that happened to the fin. Unless you've got a big tank and want to get 1 or 2 more to try and spread the aggro, i'd re-home one. I cant sex them, but apparently its not too hard, get them sexed and if you want more than one, try and stick to the same sex, probably two females be best.
