Hi I have added a eheim 2215 in the 200l tank. Should I keep my internal filter as the tank still seems to be slighty cloudy or does the filter need more than 24hrs to clear the water??
Thanks |

how long has the tank been running with the internal filter?. if the tank is mature with the internal filter running then i would leave the internal running and run the 2215 for 3 or 4 weeks till the 2215 is mature, other wise you will be back with a tank with new tank syndrome. |

The tank has been mature for years, I introduced the 2215 yesterday 10.00am to see if it would help.
So It will need longer than 24hrs??
Thanks |

It will definately need longer than 24 hours, leave it for aslong as you can that way when the internal is removed there will be little or no change in water quality. |

So I should be able to remove internal someday? |

Yes you will just give it sometime to mature. Like Nigel has said 3-4 weeks would do, but the longer the better really. |

if you realy have to remove the internals you would need to put the internal sponges/media into the 2215 filter canister to help seed it!
if you can leave everything running as nigel and -rob C- said you should have no problems!
