  Beadlet Anemone / Snakelock anemone.

Description: Beadlet Anemone. Stays small 7cm Max. Ideal 4 Nano reefs.

The Beadlet Anemone are a mixture of red, green and brown colours. Blue beads (acrorhagi) are always present at the top of the column underneath the tentacles. Occasionally they are white or off-blue.
They feed on chopped mussels/cockles/prawns, small crustaceans (copepods, larvae), fragments and whole larger (dead) crustaceans, worms etc.
They reproduce by pathogenesis and given good conditions in captivity will do so.
This species is found from the White Sea in Russia to the West coast of Africa, and is found in the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean where the temperature range is between 2º C - 28º C.
This anemone attaches to hard surfaces and is found from the upper to lower shore, down to depths of 20 m.
It can also tolerate brackish water and may be found in estuaries. It is an extremely hardy anemone as it can tolerate being out of water for periods of time as the tide retreats and returns. When this happens it just closes up to retain as much moisture as possible.
Beadlet anemones are either male or female, but it is not yet understood if sexual reproduction occurs. Both sexes are known to brood offspring internally before giving birth to live young. It is thought that the offspring are produced asexually by a process of internal ‘budding’.
More than one can be kept to a tank, and they will move away from each other to find their own space! They do this by slowly "walking" on their foot!!
The size of the anemone you will receive will be 20-50mm wide by 20-50mm tall.
They grow to 50-70mm tall maximum so are ideal for nano reefs as well.

Snakelock anemone.

This is a very attractive anemone which is normally a cream colour with brown stripes leading from the centre of its mouth outwards to its tentacles, which have purple tips.
They feed on chopped mussels/cockles/prawns, small crustaceans (copepods, larvae), fragments and whole larger (dead) crustaceans, worms etc. They feed by catching passing items in their tentacles then passing them to their mouth in the centre. Once digested they then expel any waste back through the mouth, so don’t worry this is normal!!
They reproduce by longitudinal fission which means they just split in half. After the splitting, they each have a simple and uncompleted ring of tentacles. The two new sea anemones have an uncentered mouth to start food consumption. Many of the internal tissues are duplicated before the actual splitting process. The longitudinal fission splits laterally, starting at the base disc. The whole process happens relatively quickly, it takes from 5 minutes to 2 hours.
I have had this happen on a number of occasions and given good conditions they will do so for you too.
The snakelock anemone, is found in shallow water throughout the Mediterranean Sea and north along Portugal, Spain, and France. It sometimes also occurs along the African coast south of the Straits of Gibraltar.
Its temperature range is between 2° C - 28° C.
They enjoy bright light so will move to higher ground in the aquarium whereas beadlet anemones prefer the lower levels of the tank, which is good as no competition for space occurs.

The size of the anemone you will receive will be 20-40mm wide by 20-40mm tall.

They grow to 6inches wide maximum so are ideal for nano reefs as well.

Please be aware these anemones stings have been known to irritate humans (although this only rarely happens I need to advise of this), skin on fingers is tough enough to handle them with no sting but soft forearm skin contact should be avoided (just in case!!!!)
Even if you do react to them don’t worry it is only like a nettle sting. More than one can be kept to a tank, and they will move away from each other to find their own space! They do this by slowly "walking" on their foot!!

If you buy more than one item no extra postage will be charged.
I ALSO SELL MARINE SNAILS AND LIVE ALGAE(EXCELLENT TANG FOOD!!) FEEL FREE TO ASK ABOUT THEM AS WELL.
PLEASE DO NOT BID IF YOU HAVE A FRESHWATER AQUARIUM, THESE ANEMONES CAN ONLY SURVIVE IN MARINE OR BRACKISH AQUARIUMS ONLY.
