  Complete Marine Aquarium

Description: I have for sale a complete AkvaStabil marine aquarium.

I've had the system running for over a year now but due to space requirements, am no longer able to keep it. It is currently still runing to preserve the living rock, creatures and water for the eventual buyer. All water tests are within the requred ranges and this tank has been used to sustain a small fish stock. Since deciding to sell I have sold the fish on, but all of the "clean up crew" remain, consisting of:

10 Astrea/Turbo snails (I think there may actually be 12... I initially bought 10 anyawy!)
10 blue legged hermits
5 red legged hermits
1 sand sifting starfish (she's called Twinkles - maintaining the name is optional...)

For the past 6 months I've seen a few Bumble Bee Snails, loads of slugs (they really do like the algae growth!) and several snails that look like they have an elephant's trunk on them - all of which have flourished from the living rock! It also has blooms of various types of plant life that grows from different pieces of the rock and god knows how many tiny Brittle Starfish - it's truly amazing! There are approximately 10 "things" as we label them - they're very similar to some sort of anemone, but we've been informed they are not. Anyway, they have many tenticles, the ability to grow and shrink and come in many nice colours so we've entertained their presence in the tank!

Hardware included in the sale are:

One 2 year old reinforced glass AkvaStabil aquarium, measuring 100cm x 50cm x 50cm (250l)
One custom made pine/panel stand (approx 1m tall)
One 4 month old Arcadian T5 Marine Overtank Luminaire (2 day, 2 night bulbs - independantly switchable and on timers)
Prism protein skimmer
Fluval 404 external filtration/pump system complete with media (housed in the cupboard under the tank)
Double air stone
Heater (plus a spare)
20kg Fijian live rock
25kg live coral sand (lots of fan worms etc)

Also included are various tank cleaners/scrapers, a complete range of water testing equipment, an automatic feeder for when you're not there, various dry and frozen foods, 4 x 30l water jacks for storing R.O. water, a marine aquarium back drop, several kilos of Red Sea Seasalt, various additives (PH buffer, KH buffer, R.O. water treatment) and a lot more that I'm sure to have forgotten!

I've made a polycarbonate "condensation lid" to prevent the water from evapourating out of the tank. This is a little tarnished, but still lets virtually all of the light through into the tank. If you're going to put the tank into a warm environment, I doubt that you will need this on. If like us, you live in a sub-zero climate and refuse to heat the house when you're not there (slight dramatisation!) then it may be beneficial.

If the asking price is offered, I can also include a smaller tank (18" x 12" x 12" I think) complete with stand, Fluval 202 pump, heater, air stones etc etc free of charge. I had this setup as a hospital tank just in case, but it's now also surplus to requirement.

For obvious reasons, this is a collection-only lot. I shall willingly assist anyone in getting the tank etc from my house to your vehical, but I must advise that you will need either an estate or a small van at a MINIMUM to take it away in one trip. You will be wise to bring an old duvet or some sheets to protect the glass in transit. As said above I'm keeping the aquarium running to maintain the quality of the saltwater, but I only have enough water containers to collect 120l of this. In order to transport the tank, all of the water will need to be drained out - it's bloody heavy!!! You will therefor need to add another 130l (approx) to refill assuming you want to keep as much of the current water as possible.

Anyway, I'm open to reasonable offers on this but the asking price is £575 for everything. As with any aquarium, I don't expect to get back anywhere near my initial outlay. I've pitched the price at what I deem to be fair for both buyer and seller. Any questions, fell free to ask and I'll happily do my best to answer you. Anyone is welcome to view the tank on work day evenings and weekends, so please contact me to arrange a time if required on 07803 905 691. If anyone is after the smaller tank, I can sell this separately for £60 no offers. Item is located near Neath, South Wales.

The listing is currently on eBay too - see link
