Description:
Convict Cichlids originate from rocky lakes and streams in Central America and they are also known as the Zebra Cichlid. They are now very popular aquarium fish, but can still be found in the wild in popular numbers. They can be found in streams in Honduras and another popular place for them to be collected from in the wild is in Lake Xiloa which is situated upon the country Nicaragua.
Convict Cichlids can display numerous colour variations and can be found in different colours other than blue and black. They require an aquarium of at least 20 gallons and are very easy to breed. However if you would like to breed them the larger the tank the better because they will need alot of space for them to go with their fry, therefore we recommend at least a 30 gallon tank for breeding. Males grow to at least 4-5 inches.
