Nitragous gases and methane that build up below the ice, starves the fish of vital oxygen, and if left unattended will kill fish and frogs ect in a very short period of time.
A floating pool heater, keeps a small cicle around the heater free of ice, enabling 'TOXIC GASES' to exit and beneficial oxygen to get in.
